Detention of Students
NEPN/NSBA Code: JKB

Daily Detention:

Daily detention will run approximately for one hour following the close of school. The student’s distance from school, employment, participation in extracurricular activities, etc., are not considered valid reasons to be excused from detention.

Saturday Detention:

A Saturday detention program will operate on every Saturday from the first week of school in September to the week prior to the close of school in June. Saturdays which fall within school vacations will be excepted. The program will be administered by an individual approved by the School Committee at a wage to be determined by the School Committee. If a student does not attend the Saturday detention, he/she will be suspended for five days. However, in the event of a family emergency or other unusual situation, if a student secures permission, he/she may be reassigned to the following two Saturday detentions. The assistant principal will assign the students to the program and will inform the student and the parent of the assignment.
