No member of the immediate family of any School Committee member or administrator shall be employed by the Yarmouth School Department. The immediate family of a teacher shall not be employed within the same building with the exception of itinerant employees. No person shall be employed in a position which is within the supervision of an administrator who is the member of the immediate family of such person. Nor shall any person be employed in a position where a member of the immediate family is responsible in whole or in part for the supervision and/or evaluation of the employee. Immediate family under this policy shall be as follows: husband, wife, son, daughter, father, mother, brother or sister.

Administrator under this policy shall be defined as superintendent, director of business services, director of special services, or principal. Supervisor shall be defined under this policy as supervisor of transportation, supervisors of maintenance, school nutrition supervisor, and athletic director.

Persons who become members of another person’s immediate family after their employment shall be excepted in all of the above provisions except the supervisor/ supervisee provisions. Present employees who are members of one another’s immediate family shall be grandfathered as of April 23, 1979. However, no present employee shall henceforward be placed in a supervisory position over a member of his/her immediate family.

This policy shall not apply to adult education personnel, substitute teachers or extracurricular activity coaches and advisors.
