school bus

March 7, 2021

Over the weekend, we have been made aware that a potential positive case of COVID-19 and multiple close contacts with employees may result in significant shortages in our transportation staff for Monday, March 8, and the ensuing week. We will be working throughout the day today to determine our capacity for transporting students to and from school. We are hopeful we will be making only minor adjustments to bus schedules, but it may be helpful for families to consider other options for transporting children to school this week.

A particularly challenging aspect of this situation is that drivers who were close contacts of a positive case may drive for us if they test negative for the virus, but they cannot be tested until 6:30 a.m. each day, which leaves us very little time to adjust bus runs and notify families of changes. We will provide further information later today as to how we will be handling this challenge.

On a related note, we have been notified of another individual associated with Yarmouth High School who tested positive for COVID-19 late last week. Because this individual developed symptoms while in quarantine, more than 48 hours after having been at school, we will not be required to quarantine other individuals at this time.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we address this pandemic at the local level.
