On Thursday, September 12, the Yarmouth School Committee unanimously adopted three priorities for the 2019-20 school year.

Priority 1:        School Culture and Climate

Support the administration in making intercultural competence and social justice a district-wide focus for the coming year, with specific programming for staff development, student instruction, and community awareness.

Support the administration in ensuring schools are safe places for all students by continuing our work to reduce substance use and distribution in the schools.

  • Oversee continued improvement of the school department’s academic, social-emotional, and co-curricular offerings by reviewing existing and proposed curriculum, programming, and staffing.
  • Respond to legislative or societal circumstances that call for expanded or additional programming, such as Child Development Services, alternative pathways, or expanded World Language.

Priority 2:        Programming

Oversee continued improvement of the school department’s academic, social-emotional, and co-curricular offerings by reviewing existing and proposed curriculum, programming, and staffing.

Respond to legislative or societal circumstances that call for expanded or additional programming, such as Child Development Services, alternative pathways, or expanded World Language

Priority 3:        Infrastructure and Resources

Provide high level oversight of the major construction projects at each school, ensuring that the community’s investment is enacted with an eye toward long-term durability and functionality.

Continue thoughtful approaches to the annual budget, seeking cost-effective ways to provide the best educational opportunities for all students.
