We have been notified by Maine CDC that an individual associated with Harrison Middle School (HMS), who was at the school last week, tested positive for COVID-19 this week. We have been directed by Maine CDC to notify families of students who had close contact with the individual that they must quarantine their child for 14 days from last contact. We are completing those calls at this time. If you do not receive a call this afternoon (12/2/20), then your child was not one who had close contact with this individual.
Adding to today’s challenge is the fact that this individual worked closely with several staff members. While it is our intent to maintain the current hybrid schedule for most students at HMS, we will transition one group of students to the all-remote setting for several days due to lack of instructional personnel. Principal Joan Adler will be sending a communication to all HMS families later this afternoon providing specific information on this change.
