Yarmouth Town Flag

On Thursday, May 7, the Yarmouth Town Council voted 7-0 to send the proposed FY27 School and Municipal budgets to the voters at a Town Meeting to be held on Tuesday, June 2, at 7:00 p.m. in the Yarmouth High School Performing Arts Center (YPAC).

The proposed school budget reflects a 4.4% increase over the current year, preserving programming at all levels of the district. No new or expanded programming is being proposed, as the recommended budget is $350,000 below the "roll-forward" budget that would result from simply moving all programs, services, and employees from the current year into next year, given projected increases to salaries, benefits, and utilities/equipment costs.

There are two steps remaining in the budget approval process, and your vote is important in each:

  1. The proposed budget will now be voted on at Town Meeting, where citizens will be asked to cast their ballots on each warrant article as described in this budget narrative.

  2. The budget approved at Town Meeting will then be considered by all voters in Yarmouth in a town-wide referendum to be held on Tuesday, June 9, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Yarmouth High School gymnasium.

Your attendance at the Town Meeting and your vote in the Town Referendum are vitally important as we seek to approve a budget that meets the voters' expectations. We are scheduling childcare for attendees who bring children to the Town Meeting on June 2, and we encourage all of you to make plans to attend and cast your votes on the budget.

We hope to see you on June 2.
