Open House and other key Fall dates

Dear Families,

With the first week of school completed, we are off and running with the new school year!  We have had a tremendous start at YHS, and I would ask you to take a few minutes to read through Why We Teach, a webpage where our faculty members explain their commitment and dedication to working with students.   We hope you have had time to sift through the start of school information sent a few weeks ago, as there are more upcoming events and information looking ahead.

Please mark your calendars for this year’s Open House, which will be held on Wednesday, September 21st from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.   At 6:30, please report to your child’s advisory group to receive your child’s schedule and other  important information.  Following advisory, you will follow an abbreviated schedule and meet your student’s teachers. Patrick and Amy will be available in the cafeteria during the night, so you may have the opportunity to meet them and talk during the study hall period time in your child’s schedule.  Yearbooks can be purchased for $60.00 online at Jostens.com.  After Open House the price will increase.  Please feel free to email: betsy_puelle@yarmouthschools.org with any questions.

On Wednesday, September 21st, we will host our annual Club Fair.  This is an opportunity for students to explore many of the extracurricular opportunities at Yarmouth High School.

Other key dates:

  • Picture Day is September 29th (picture order forms will be sent home with students and also found here Unique Code 85UEC6ZE)

  • Flu vaccination clinic will be held September 30th (more info will follow from the school nurse)

Volunteers

YHS is excited to welcome volunteers back into our school community in a variety of roles to enhance our student experience and support our staff. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, we ask that you:

  • Fill out a volunteer registration form found on the school department website. The district requires you to complete this form each school year. This will also ensure your background check is up-to-date and add you to our email list!

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about volunteer opportunities - please reach out to  Rebecca Spear, Director of Partners in Education/ District Volunteer Coordinator. Rebecca is also a great resource if your student is looking for help finding their own community service opportunities.

Reminder to follow us on Twitter at @YarmouthHS  @YHSClippers

Sincerely,

Patrick Hartnett, Amy Bongard, and Sarah Holmes - YHS Administrative Team
