Dear Parent/Guardian:

Moments ago I received a call from the Yarmouth Water District, informing me that a water valve has broken at the corner of McCartney Street and Glen Road.  This is a significant concern that will cause the Water District to shut off the water to Yarmouth Elementary School for the entire day tomorrowWednesday, September 3.  Because of this unforeseen incident there will be no school at YES tomorrow, as we would have no water for cooking, cleaning, drinking, flushing, or fire suppression.  Although some of these purposes could be provided for through bottled water, it would not be possible to provide for all of these necessities, thereby leading us to this difficult decision

I apologize for the lateness of this notice to you, but we just received word ourselves.  I know this puts a burden on many of you due to daycare arrangements and many other commitments you may have.  Please know that we simply feel we have no other option at this point, although we considered several ideas.

To clarify, we will have school at Rowe School, Harrison Middle School, and Yarmouth High School.  Only Yarmouth Elementary School will be closed for the day.

Again, I apologize for this inconvenience, but it is purely out of our control at this point, and we are hopeful that this one day of disruption will soon pass.
