Director of Business Services

The Director of Business Services is responsible for the administration of finance, human resources, and operations functions for the Yarmouth School Department.  Operations functions include food services, transportation, and maintenance.  The Director of Business Services directs the department’s accounting functions, such as payroll and accounts payable.  The Director of Business Services works with the Superintendent and School Committee to develop and monitor the budget for the Yarmouth School Department.  The director will also work with the Superintendent, Town Manager, and Town Finance Director, among others, to devise ways that the schools and town can work collaboratively to improve efficiencies so that Yarmouth residents can continue to enjoy the highest quality services.

We invite your application if you are a collaborative professional with an unwavering commitment to support policies and practices that empower all students to attain success.  The Director of Business Services is a member of a district leadership team that includes the superintendent, four school principals, two assistant principals, the director of instructional support, the director of nutrition, the director of facilities and transportation, the athletic director, and the technology coordinator, who work collaboratively to ensure continuous improvement across the district. 

The preferred candidate will have:

·       5+ years of experience in financial management, human resources, and operations; preferably including overseeing facilities, capital projects, transportation, and school food services;

·       enthusiasm for Yarmouth School Department’s mission, vision, and core values;

·       the ability to facilitate collaborative problem solving;

·       strong human relations skills and human resources, payroll, and negotiations experience;

·       knowledge about developing and monitoring budgets for local, federal, and state funds;

·       effective written and verbal communication skills;

·       knowledge of federal and state regulations;

·       a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, school administration, or comparable, with preference given for an advanced degree;

·       deep understanding of accounting principles;

·       excellent technology skills, including Microsoft Excel (knowledge of Munis software is preferred);

·       prior experience as a school finance officer.
