Dear Parents and Guardians-

This will be the last At-A-Glance for this school year. The HMS faculty appreciates the remarkable growth that your children have demonstrated as they moved through this year. We value their kindness and creativity and the lessons they teach us. We are grateful to all of you for your partnership, and for the dedication and expertise of our staff who make such a positive, powerful impact on our students’ learning experiences.

We want to share our gratitude for the work of HMS retirees and educators who are not returning in the fall. Best wishes and appreciation to Claudine Hladky, Margot Owen, Susan Parr, Nancy Riggs, Mirella Roberts, and Karyn Smith.

For parents of our incoming 5th grade students, you will receive an email shortly after the end of the school year that includes the name of your child’s teacher, along with her/his class list.

For parents of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, student schedules, which include teacher and course names, will be available on the parent portal shortly after the end of the school year. Please select 2019-2020 Schedule on the portal. If you have trouble accessing the Parent Portal, please access the PowerSchool Help page at http://hms.yarmouthschools.org/powerschool-help-page

Just a reminder that the parent portal will be in flux over the next few days as teachers finish up grades and comments. Final grades will be available on Tuesday, June 19.

Legenda: Every year Charlotte Agell and her talented team of student writers and artists create a unique and beautiful literary magazine for our community. Legenda is an impressive example of student voice/choice and empowerment in action. Once again this year, our students' work demonstrates the importance of Legenda and the value of publications that enable us to actually turn the pages. Please take some time to read through this magazine and connect with the writers and artists who made it possible. Thanks to our students, and to Charlotte for this invaluable work and much gratitude to Leo Nieter for his help bringing Legenda to life! You can download the pdf of Legenda at this link

Civil Rights Museum: We are proud to share information about our 8th grade students’ work on the Civil Rights Museum. These students demonstrated a wealth of knowledge about the advancement of civil rights in our country during their fascinating and impressive presentations on Wednesday night. They have been deeply engaged in research about civil rights; the time and effort they spent exploring these topics was obvious to all in attendance. We congratulate our students' on their articulate, moving presentations and their understanding of the impact of each of these issues/events. We commend them for their hard work and the pride they took in this independent learning experience. We will miss our 8th grade students next year and we are excited to hear about their transition to YHS!

Supply lists are posted on our website.

Lost and Found: Please visit our tables to reunite your children with their belongings. All items will be donated shortly after the end of the school year.
